Sigma Founder And CEO Dies At 78

This is really a sad news for the Photography industry. Sigma Founder and CEO Michihiro Yamaki died of Liver Cancer at the age of 78. Yamaki started SIGMA at the age of 27. Before that he was working as an optical engineer.
Sigma is the largest independent SLR lens manufacturer in the world and produces lenses for most of the camera manufacturers.
Over the years, Yamaki has been honored with the “Person of the Year” award from The Photoimaging Manufacturers & Distributors Association (PMDA), the “Hall of Fame” award from the International Photographic Council (IPC), and the Golden Photokina Pin for his longtime contribution to the imaging industry.
